This is a reading of one of the earliest Buddhist texts, the Pārāyanavagga (The Way to the Beyond) in the Pāḷi Canonical language, which forms part 5 of the Suttanipāta (KN 5).

The text falls into three clearly discernible sections. The first form the Vatthugāthā, the Introductory Verses; this is followed by the Pucchā, or Questions, in which are recorded, mainly in verse, 16 dialogues between the Buddha and a group of brāhmaṇa meditation masters; and thirdly, there is a fitting epilogue to the story.
